Many transactions involving other countries require a Notary Public to certify or authenticate documents or to witness signatures.
As a Notary Public I do not advise you on the effect or suitability of a document but I do have to ensure that the person signing has the necessary capacity and understanding to do so. If the document is not in English then in some cases it will be necessary to obtain a translation.
I have to verify the identity of those people signing the document usually by meeting them and checking their ID. I require two suitable forms of identification to be produced one of which must be a current and valid photo ID. The other must confirm your home address and unless it is a current full driving licence must be less than 3 months old.
